Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI)
The Global Food Safety Initiative was formed in 2000 during a Consumer Goods Forum to increase consumer confidence in the safety of food products and provide a benchmarking system for global food safety standards. The GFSI mission statement is to ""Provide continuous improvement in food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide".

British Retail Consortium (BRC) Audits
BRC Global Standard for Food Safety

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, developed by retailers, was the first Standard in the world to be approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarking committee. Because the BRC Global Standards are meticulous and thorough, but also easy to follow and to comprehend, they are the most widely used of the GFSI standards, boasting more than 16,000 certified organizations throughout the world.

The BRC Standard places a strong emphasis on Management Commitment and a detailed HACCP Program as the basis of a successful food safety program. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance on the overall commitment for Quality programs and their execution. The Standard's requirements are clearly defined and documented which provides consistent interpretation by the auditors and implementation by the audited facilities. BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distribution
The BRC Global Standard was introduced in 2006 to bridge the gap between food manufacturers and retailers and foodservice companies. GFSI Benchmarked, Global Standard for Storage and Distribution is a leading certification scheme which enables companies providing storage, wholesale and distribution services to gain certification against a global recognized scheme.

The Safe Quality Food (SQF) program was developed to provide retailers and foodservice providers confidence in their supply chain's food safety management systems. The SQF certification scheme strives to provide evidence that a robust, validated food safety system is implemented at the facility. The SQF program is managed by the Safe Quality Food Institute whose mission is to: "To deliver consistent, globally recognized food safety and quality certification programs based on sound scientific principles, consistently applied across all industry sectors, and valued by all stakeholders."

ISO 22000/ISO 22002
ISO 22000 is a Food Safety Management System that can be applied to any organization in the food chain, farm to fork. Becoming certified to ISO 22000 allows a company to show their customers that they have a food safety management system in place. This provides customer confidence in the product.

PAACO Certified Animal Welfare Audits:
Our auditors are PAACO certified and trained extensively through the use of calibration audits conducted by Dr. Temple Grandin in Animal Welfare and by Dr. Linda Detwiler in SRM Removal and Avian Influenza.

Dr. Temple Grandin has led calibration meetings with FSNS C&A leadership and audit team participation and has been an animal welfare consultant to FSNS C&A for over 12 years. With the support of FSNS C&A, our customers have the opportunity to improve Animal Welfare processes and procedures.
